About Us.

Mull of Kintyre Triathlon made a very successful come back last year with a 3 series events including a Super Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon, Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon and a Standard Distance Triathlon and Duathlon. Our 3 races were located in different areas of the stunning Scottish town and countryside of Campbeltown, Southend and Machrihannish.

Our aim for having our series is to be able to be inclusive for everyone. We want to encourage people to set a goal and go for it. Start with our Super Sprint and work your way to our Standard Distance. We want beginners and experienced triathletes to come and enjoy our events.

Our Locations

CAMPBELTOWN

Super Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon

In 2023 the Super Sprint Distance Triathlon was be centered
around Dalintober beach, which is situated at the
head of Kinloch in the heart of Campbeltown. The
race included a 400m open water sea swim. This year, 2024 we will be situated in Aqualibrium Leisure Centre for a 400m pool swim. We want this race to be inclusive for beginners and know that an open water sea swim can be daunting.
Following from the swim there will be a very flat 10km out and back cycle
along the Le’arside road which will give you superb
views over to Davaar, Arran and Ailsa Craig and if
it’s particularly clear you can see all the way to
Ayrshire. The event will culminate with a 2.5km run
loop up High Askomil and returning along Low
Askomil, finishing in Kinloch park.

Duathlon will be a 2km run around Kinloch park followed by the 10km cycle then finishing with 2.5km run.

SOUTHEND

Sprint Triathlon and Duathlon

The Sprint Distance Triathlon will be centered around the village of Southend, which is situated at the southern end of the Kintyre penisula. The race will include a 750m open water sea swim from Carskiey beach, followed by a 19km bike route around some spectacular countryside which will give you superb views over to the Irish coastline, Ailsa Craig and if it’s particularly clear, you can see all the way to Ayrshire and the Galloway coastline. The event will culminate with a 5km run following the Kintyre Way route along to Dunaverty beach, crossing the golf course and culminating on the sports field behind the village hall.

MACHRIHANISH

The Standard Distance Triathlon will be centred around Machrihanish village and MACC park, which is situated on the South Western edge of the Kintyre peninsula, only 10 miles West of  Campbeltown. The race will include a 1500m open water sea swim, followed by a very flat 41km out and back cycle which is only on public roads for 6 km in total, with the rest of the course on partially closed roads within MACC park. The event will culminate with a challenging 10km out and back run course, which provides some of the best views in Kintyre out to the Irish coast line, the inner Hebrides before finishing in front of the old Club House.
